Rohini Gavit from Nandurbar's defended Unbeaten Nine-Minute

Dharashiv, 28 October – In the 50th Golden Jubilee Junior State Kho-Kho Championship and Selection Trials competition, Nandurbar defeated Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar by 6-1, a margin of five points in the girls' category. Organized by the Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association and the Osmanabad District Kho-Kho Association, this competition commenced at the District Education and Training Institute's ground. Rohini Gavit shone on the opening day, remaining unbeaten for nine minutes in the second round and defending for 8.40 minutes in the first. Disha Ingale from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar also put up a fight, scoring in 2.40 and 7.10 minutes. An unbeaten nine-minute performance is a rarity these days, and Rohini Gavit delivered this spectacle to the audience.



In another match, Raigad triumphed over Latur with a close score of 16-14. Raigad’s 6-5 halftime lead secured their victory. Sanjeevani Jagdale played exceptionally well, defending for 2.30 minutes and taking six opponents out. Latur's Payal Mane's efforts fell short as she managed to take out seven opponents while defending for 1.10 minutes. The other matches were one-sided.


In the Boys' Category, Dhule Defeated Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar




In the boys' category, Dhule claimed victory over Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with a score of 21-18. Their halftime lead of 11-9 paved the way for their win. Kunal Shete defended for two and one minute, taking out two opponents. Abhishek Gavit eliminated three opponents while defending for 1.50 and 1.20 minutes. In another match, Raigad defeated Sindhudurg with a score of 17-13. Bhavesh Govlikar was pivotal in their victory, taking out five opponents while defending for one and 1.20 minutes. Atharv Shinde from Sindhudurg scored 1.50, 1.00 minutes, and four points, but his efforts were insufficient. The other matches ended with decisive victories.


Inauguration by District Collector Sachin Ombase

The competition was inaugurated by Sachin Ombase, the District Collector of Dharashiv. The chair was taken by Ganpatrao More, Deputy Director of Education for the Latur Division. The event began with a flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the arrival of the sports flame, which was ignited by the chief guests. Subsequently, award-winning athlete Ashwini Shinde administered the athletes' oath.

Present at the event were Dr. Dayanand Jatmure, Principal of Dwapet College, Administrative Officer of the Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Aditya Patil, Arjuna Awardee Sarika Kale, Treasurer of the Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association Adv. Govind Sharma, Vice-President Ashwini Patil, Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Awardee J.P. Shelke, Sujata Shaname, Rohini Aware, Supriya Gadhave, social worker Dr. Subhash Wagh, and Rahman Kazi from the Shiv Tej Foundation, among other dignitaries. The secretary of the Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association, Prof. Dr. Chandrajit Jadhav, delivered the introductory remarks.

The welcome address was given by Praveen Bagal, Abhay Ingale, Pradeep Hole, Prabhakar Kale, Shobhana Vakure, Vivek Kapse, Varsha Jachav, Nikita Pawar, Gauri Shinde, Sampada More, Akash Lokhande, Abhijit Patil, Ritesh Jadhav, and Sujit Salunkhe. The president of the association's competition committee, Sandeep Tawade, expressed gratitude.
