: Brilliant centuries by middle-order batsmen Siddhant Adatrao (150) and Gautam
Waghela (112) propelled P.J. Hindu Gymkhana to a resounding 113-run victory
against Cricket Club of India (CCI) in the third round of the 108th
Spinny-Purshottam Shield Cricket Tournament 2024, played at the Hindu
Gymkhana ground on Saturday.
Batting
first, Hindu Gymkhana faced early troubles, losing their top three batsmen for
just 31 runs in 5.3 overs. However, Adatrao and Waghela stabilized the innings
and counter-attacked fiercely. Their partnership took Hindu Gymkhana to an
imposing total of 389 for 8 in 45 overs.
Adatrao
dazzled with his aggressive 96-ball knock, featuring 18 boundaries and six
sixes, while Waghela played a composed innings, striking 13 fours and
two sixes in his 89-ball effort.
In
reply, CCI put up a spirited fight, with contributions from Rudra Danday (50),
Akash Parkar (47), Chinmay Sutar (45), and Akhil Herwadkar (42). However, they
fell short, being bowled out for 276 in 38.4 overs, handing the hosts a
comfortable win.
