STARS STEAL THE SHOW IN A THRILLING FINALE
Mumbai
: In a spectacular display of skill and composure, the 59th Sub-Junior State
Carrom Championship, organized by the Maharashtra Carrom Association
in association with Central Railway Institute, Dadar, concluded on a
high note at the MCA Training Centre, where rising stars Omkar Wadar, Vedika
Pomendkar, Shivansh More and Nidhi Sapre clinched top honours with dominant
and exciting performances.
SUB-JUNIOR
(UNDER 14 BOYS): OMKAR DOMINATES
In
the Under-14 boys final, Kolhapur’s national player Omkar Wadar
delivered a commanding performance to defeat Mumbai Suburban’s Prasanna
Golewar with a one-sided scoreline of 19-13, 16-6, while in the
third-place match, Umer Pathan of Mumbai Suburban fought back strongly
to overcome Thane’s Neel Mhatre with 11-21, 21-0, 21-9.
SUB-JUNIOR
(UNDER 14 GIRLS): VEDIKA SHINES
In
the Under-14 girls final, Mumbai Suburban’s Vedika Pomendkar showcased
her class by defeating Mumbai’s Gauri Sawant convincingly with 11-4,
16-4, while Thane’s Sara Devan secured third place with a dominant
win over Dhule’s Kalyani Marathe by 21-0, 21-1.
CADET
(UNDER 12 BOYS): SHIVANSH WINS THRILLER
The
Under-12 boys (Cadet) final turned out to be a nail-biting contest, where
Thane’s Shivansh More edged past his teammate Samarth Khandelwal
in a thrilling three-set battle 21-5, 1-16, 9-8, while Palghar’s Devaraj
Kathade secured third place by defeating Pune’s Rudra Ingale with 21-0,
19-2.
CADET
(UNDER 12 GIRLS): NIDHI STAMPS AUTHORITY
In
the Under-12 girls (Cadet) category, Ratnagiri’s national player Nidhi Sapre
dominated the final, defeating Thane’s Devika Joshi with a convincing 21-1,
19-4, while Sindhudurg’s Divya Rane clinched third place with a
close win over Pune’s Arvi Shelar by 6-18, 13-7, 13-11.
PRIZE
DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY HELD IN STYLE
All
winners were honoured with attractive trophies and merit certificates at the
hands of dignitaries including Yatin Thakur (Vice President), Arun
Kedar (Hon. Secretary), Ajit Sawant (Treasurer) and Ketan
Chikhale (Joint Secretary), marking a proud moment for young carrom talents
and a bright future for the sport in Maharashtra.
