Control
Your Emotions on the Field – Advice from Dilip Vengsarkar
Divine
Cricket Academy wins HDFC Bank Parivartan Cup U-14 title with a thrilling
10-run victory
Mumbai : Former India
captain Dilip Vengsarkar advised young cricketers to learn the
importance of controlling emotions while playing competitive cricket. Speaking
at the prize distribution ceremony of the HDFC Bank Parivartan Cup Under-14
Cricket Tournament held at the Vengsarkar Foundation Academy ground in
Panvel, he emphasized that discipline and composure are as important as skill
on the field. In the exciting final played earlier, Divine Cricket Academy
defeated Sports Field by 10 runs to lift the tournament trophy.
Vengsarkar’s
Guidance to Young Cricketers
Addressing
the budding players, Dilip Vengsarkar said that while watching
international matches on television, youngsters should avoid copying aggressive
celebrations or emotional outbursts displayed by some players. Instead, they
should focus on learning the positive qualities of top cricketers, such as hard
work, dedication, discipline, and commitment to winning matches. His
message encouraged the young players to develop strong character along with
cricketing skills.
Lucky
Sakariya’s Brilliant Spell Restricts Divine to 102
In
the final match, Sports Field won the toss and elected to field first,
inviting Divine Cricket Academy to bat. The Divine innings began
steadily with Madhav Thackeray 33 and Yohan Barua 21 putting
together a 51-run opening partnership, while Vivaan Gurjar 16
added useful runs. However, the rest of the batting line-up failed to reach
double figures. Lucky Sakariya delivered an outstanding bowling spell,
taking 4 wickets for 16 runs, while Rancho Terwe 2 wickets for 20
runs, Om Lokhande 2 wickets for 26 runs, and Swaroop More 2
wickets for 18 runs shared the remaining wickets to bowl out Divine Cricket
Academy for 102 in 31.1 overs.
Riyan
Terwe’s Lone Fight Falls Short
Chasing
a modest target of 103, Sports Field depended heavily on opener Riyan
Terwe, who played a fighting knock of 49 runs with 8 boundaries.
However, he received little support from the other batsmen. Tight bowling from
medium pacers Hridan Patil 3 wickets for 9 runs and Madhav Thackeray
3 wickets for 8 runs, along with sharp fielding from Divine players,
ensured constant pressure on the opposition. As a result, Sports Field
were bowled out for 92 in 36.5 overs, giving Divine Cricket Academy a
narrow but memorable 10-run victory.
Madhav
Thackeray Shines with All-Round Performance
For
his outstanding all-round performance, Madhav Thackeray, who scored 111
runs in the tournament and took 4 wickets, was named Man of the Match
and also the Best Batsman of the Tournament. The Best Bowler Award
went to Lucky Sakariya with 11 wickets, while Akash Kaushik was
declared Best Fielder with 8 catches. The Player of the Tournament
award was presented to Riyan Terwe, who impressed with 233 runs and 5
wickets during the competition.
