Mumbai : In a fabulous display of skill and dominance, Purva Barve lived up to her top billing to clinch the Women’s Singles title, while unseeded Dev Ruparelia produced a brilliant performance to bag the Men’s Singles crown at the Yonex Sunrise Manoj Ramchandra Memorial State Open Badminton Tournament 2026 held at the NIA courts in Mumbai. The tournament, conducted by the North Indian Association and Jitesh Padukone Academy under the Maharashtra Badminton Association, concluded with thrilling finals and outstanding performances.

 

Women’s Final: Purva Outclasses Shreya to Lift Title

Top seed Purva Barve showcased exceptional court craft and attacking prowess to defeat 3-Shreya Bhosale in straight games 21-15, 21-12 in the final. With this commanding win, Purva secured the prestigious title, underlining her supremacy throughout the tournament.

 

Men’s Final: Ruparelia Edges Past Sarvesh in Close Battle

In the Men’s Singles final, unseeded Dev Ruparelia displayed composure and consistency to overcome 3-Sarvesh Yadav in two closely fought games 21-18, 21-18, clinching the championship and emerging as the surprise winner of the tournament.

 

Prize Distribution: Champions and Runners-Up Honoured

Both champions Purva Barve and Dev Ruparelia were awarded trophies along with a cash prize of Rs 41,000 each. The runners-up Shreya Bhosale and Sarvesh Yadav received trophies and a cash award of Rs 31,000 each for their commendable performances.

 

Women’s Semi-Finals: Purva and Shreya Advance

In the semi-finals, Purva Barve comfortably defeated Nishka Gokhe 21-12, 21-16 to book her place in the final. Meanwhile, Shreya Bhosale fought a tough three-game battle against 5-Aarya Korgaonkar, winning 21-19, 19-21, 21-16 to advance.

 

Men’s Semi-Finals: Sarvesh and Ruparelia Impress

In the Men’s section, Sarvesh Yadav ended Harshit Mahimkar’s impressive run with a hard-fought 21-16, 17-21, 21-16 victory. Dev Ruparelia, on the other hand, dominated his match against Kritya Patel, winning convincingly 21-12, 21-14 to enter the final.
