Loni Kalbhor: The intercollegiate and inter-university cricket tournament organised by MIT Art, Design and Technology (MIT-ADT) University concluded on a high note with an exciting final played on the occasion of the 60th birthday of Executive President and Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad. In a thrilling title clash, Ajinkya D. Y. Patil University, Lohgaon (Pune) delivered a strong all-round performance to defeat MIT College of Management (MITCOM), Loni Kalbhor by 41 runs and lift the championship trophy.

 

Strong Batting Performance Secures the Title

Batting first in the final, Ajinkya D. Y. Patil University posted a competitive total of 165 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Divyansh played a valuable innings of 37 runs off 22 balls, while Sangram Ghumre contributed 32 runs off 22 balls, helping the team build a strong total. For MITCOM, Pushkar took 2 wickets for 26 runs, while Pranay Wagh (2/24), Nakul Sharma (2/19) and Nishant Chaudhary (2/23) also bowled well.

 

Safal Ghimire’s Brilliant Spell Turns the Match

While chasing the target, MITCOM was bowled out for 124 runs in 17 overs despite fighting knocks from Kishor Divate, who scored 43 runs off 34 balls, and Tanishq Chaube, who made 33 runs off 21 balls. The star performer for the winning side was Safal Ghimire, who delivered a match-winning spell of 4 wickets for 31 runs. Puranjay Rathod also supported well with 2 wickets for 30 runs. For his outstanding performance, Safal Ghimire was awarded the Man of the Match.

 

Army Institute of Technology Secures Third Place

In the third-place match, Army Institute of Technology, Pune defeated MIT School of Computing (SOC), Loni Kalbhor by 17 runs to finish third in the tournament. After scoring 95 runs, the Army team successfully restricted MIT SOC to just 77 runs. Charan Kumar Dokkari played an important role and was named the Man of the Match for his performance.

 

Puranjay Rathod Wins Player of the Series

The prestigious Player of the Series award was won by Puranjay Singh Rathod of Ajinkya D. Y. Patil University for his outstanding bowling performance throughout the tournament. He claimed a total of 9 wickets, proving to be one of the most consistent performers of the championship.

 

Tournament Held from April 23 to 27

The tournament was conducted from April 23 to 27, 2026, at the sports complex of MIT-ADT University. The winning and runner-up teams were awarded cash prizes of 50,000, along with trophies, medals, and certificates, making the event memorable for all participating teams.

 

Prize Distribution in Presence of Dignitaries

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajesh S., Registrar Dr. Mahesh Chopade, Director of Sports and Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Prof. Padmakar Phad, Brigadier Mangesh Vitekar, and several other distinguished guests, who congratulated the players for their excellent performances.
