Uzbekistan : India’s young boxing stars continued their impressive campaign at the Asian U-17 Boxing Championships 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with five Indian boxers advancing to the semifinals and confirming at least five medals for the country. The Indian contingent once again displayed determination, skill, and composure on the continental stage.

 

Yash Yadav and Nivesh Pal Shine Bright; Convincing Wins Seal Semifinal Spots



In the quarterfinals, Yash Yadav (50kg) produced a strong performance to register a hard-fought 4:1 victory over Kubanychbek Bolushov of Kyrgyzstan. Continuing India’s dominant run, Nivesh Pal (54kg) delivered a commanding display and secured a unanimous 5:0 win against Shingen Kanai of Japan to comfortably book his place in the semifinals.

 

Naman Kumar and Lakshay Phogat Impress; Dominant Displays Continue India’s Medal Surge



In the 70kg category, Naman Kumar outclassed Ruzibek Miravotov of Tajikistan with a dominant 5:0 victory. Lakshay Phogat (75kg) also continued his excellent form, sealing a clinical 5:0 win over Cheng-En Li of Chinese Taipei to move into the last four.

 

Tough Day for Some Indian Boxers; Karung Albertson, Ranveer and Siddhant Exit Competition

In other quarterfinal results, Karung Albertson (60kg) suffered a 0:5 defeat against Emir Mukhit of Kazakhstan. Ranveer (66kg) also went down 0:5 against Kazakhstan’s Islam Suleimanogly, while Siddhant (+80kg) lost 0:5 to Sabyrzhan Sagym of Kazakhstan, bringing their campaigns to an end.

 


India Eyes More Success Ahead; Semifinalists Look to Push for Gold Medal Bouts

With four additional medals confirmed today, India’s total tally in the U-17 boys’ category now stands at five medals. Riding on strong momentum, the Indian contingent will now aim to continue its winning run and fight for top podium finishes in the semifinal stage of the championships.
