Mumbai : The stage is set for an exciting display of badminton talent as leading players from across the city gear up to compete in the CCI Yonex Sunrise Mumbai District Badminton Championship 2026, which will commence on Monday, June 15, 2026. The prestigious tournament is being organised by the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in association with the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association (GMBA) and will be played at the CCI badminton courts.

 

Competition Across 21 Events

The championship promises intense competition as players battle for top honours in 21 events spread across various age groups and categories. The tournament will feature Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, providing a platform for the city’s finest shuttlers to showcase their skills and talent.

 

Young Talent to Get Big Opportunity

The championship will also provide an excellent opportunity for emerging players with competitions in Boys’ and Girls’ Singles Under-11, Under-13 and Under-15 categories, along with Boys’ and Girls’ Under-17 Singles and Doubles events. Additionally, Boys’ Under-19 Singles and Doubles competitions will be conducted, ensuring participation across a wide spectrum of age groups.

 

Veterans and Future Stars to Share the Spotlight

Apart from the junior and senior categories, special 40+ Combined Events will also be organised, bringing experienced players into the spotlight. The tournament is expected to witness a healthy mix of youth, experience and competitive spirit over the course of the championship.

 

Mumbai Team Selection at Stake

Adding further significance to the tournament, the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association (GMBA) will select the Greater Mumbai team based on the performances of players in this championship.
