Mumbai, September 6: Top seed Soham Pathak produced a commanding performance to defeat second seed Shubham Pal 15-5, 15-9 and clinch the Men’s Singles title in the Mumbai Suburban District Championship & Selection Tournament 2026, organised by Goregaon Sports Club in association with the Badminton Association for Mumbai Upnagar and played at the Goregaon Sports Club on Sunday. Soham dominated the final from the start and gave his opponent little opportunity to make a comeback.

 

Ketaki Completes Straight-Game Victory

In the Women’s Singles final, top seed Ketaki Thite also produced a strong performance to overcome second seed Myra Oak 15-11, 15-11. Ketaki maintained her composure throughout the final to secure the championship in straight games.

 

Pratim Wins Boys’ U-17 Crown

Top seed Pratim Manihar fought through a close three-game battle against Jayden Noronha to win the Boys’ U-17 Singles title. Pratim prevailed 15-13, 7-15, 15-11, recovering strongly after losing the second game to seal the championship.

 

Spurha Wins Thrilling Girls’ U-17 Final

The Girls’ U-17 final produced an exciting contest between Spurha Joshi and Gargi Dabholkar. After both players battled hard for supremacy, Spurha Joshi held her nerve to win 17-15, 13-15, 15-7 and emerge champion.

Women’s Singles: 1-Ketaki Thite beat 2-Myra Oak 15-11, 15-11.

Men’s Singles: 1-Soham Pathak beat 2-Shubham Pal 15-9, 15-5.
