Patil makes it to India’s Foil Team
Pune’s
MIT Art, Design and Technology University (MIT-ADT) has another reason
to celebrate as its student Tejas Manoj Patil has been selected in the Indian
Men’s Foil Fencing Team for the upcoming Asian Games in Japan. Tejas will
represent India in the Foil event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
His selection is a result of his consistent performances at national and
international competitions.
Selection
based on consistent international performances
The
selection committee of the Fencing Association of India has officially
announced the Indian fencing team for the Asian Games. The players were
selected based on their performances in national ranking events, Asian
Senior Fencing Championships, World Championships and Commonwealth Fencing
Championships. Tejas earned his place in the Indian Men’s Foil Team through
his strong and consistent performances.
National
camp in Patiala before Japan
All
selected Indian fencers will take part in the national preparation camp in
Patiala till September 15. After completing the camp, the Indian team will
leave for Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on September 16 to prepare for the
competition and adjust to the local conditions. Tejas will now get a major
opportunity to compete against some of the best fencers in Asia.
Shanghai
to Lagos – Tejas continues to rise
A
student of the School of Computing (SOC) at MIT-ADT University, Tejas
Patil has made steady progress on the international fencing circuit. He
represented India at the prestigious Foil Grand Prix in Shanghai, China,
and later competed for India in the Commonwealth Fencing Championships in
Lagos, Nigeria. His performances at these international events earned him 2
Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal.
Now
the big Asian Games challenge
After
making his mark at the Commonwealth level, Tejas will now face a much bigger
challenge at the Asian Games. Competing against top fencers from across
Asia will test his skills, experience and consistency. His performances at Shanghai
and Lagos, along with his national-level experience, will give him valuable
confidence as he prepares for the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

Tejas’
selection in the Indian Foil Team is also a proud moment for MIT-ADT
University. By successfully balancing education and high-level sport, Tejas
has taken the name of his university to the international sports platform. His
selection for the Asian Games is a major recognition of his hard work,
discipline and consistent performances.
