Mumbai’s
National Cricket Club Launches Talent Hunt to Back 20 Promising Young
Cricketers
Three-day
selection drive from October 26 to 28 offers sponsored coaching, professional
facilities and a pathway to competitive Mumbai cricket for players aged 16–23
MUMBAI
: For young cricketers with talent but limited access
to professional training, a major opportunity is knocking. Mumbai’s National
Cricket Club (NCC) has announced a three-day Talent Hunt from October 26 to
28, 2026, aimed at identifying and nurturing 20 promising players aged 16
to 23. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between raw ability and
competitive cricket by offering selected players sponsored coaching, access to
quality facilities and opportunities to progress through Mumbai’s cricketing
system.
Twenty
Players to Receive Sponsored Training
The
NCC will select 20 cricketers who demonstrate the potential to excel but
may lack access to quality coaching and professional training infrastructure.
The selected players will receive sponsorship and structured support to
strengthen their technical skills, improve their game awareness and prepare for
higher levels of competition.
Professional
Coaching and Access to Top-Class Facilities
The
selected players will receive complete access to the NCC’s cricketing
facilities to support regular practice and skill development. They will also
train under Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA)-certified coaches and staff,
giving them access to professional guidance and a structured training
environment. The programme is designed to help young cricketers sharpen their
abilities, build confidence and prepare for the demands of competitive cricket.
From
Mumbai T20 League to the Ranji Trophy
Beyond
training, the Talent Hunt aims to create a pathway into Mumbai’s competitive
cricket structure. Selected players will have opportunities to pursue selection
for prestigious MCA tournaments, including the Mumbai T20 League. The
initiative also seeks to open doors to future opportunities at higher levels,
including the Ranji Trophy and, potentially, the Indian team. Players
will also have opportunities to visit international clubs, gaining exposure to
different cricketing environments and learning practices that could help them
develop their game.
Rajdip
Gupta: ‘Cricket Opportunities Must Reach Players from Every Background’
Speaking
about the initiative, Rajdip Gupta, President of the National Cricket Club
and Chairman of the Mumbai T20 League Governing Council, stressed the
importance of making cricket development more inclusive. “India has a great
cricketing culture. If we want to lead world cricket consistently, we need a
more inclusive foundation for players from different walks of life,” Gupta
said. He added that the Talent Hunt aims to identify promising cricketers who
may not have access to the right opportunities and provide them with the
support and guidance needed to realise their potential. The club is confident
that the programme will create meaningful pathways for young players to
progress in the sport.
SanRaj
Group Supports Grassroots Cricket Development
The
initiative is supported by SanRaj Group, a diversified business group
with interests across multiple sectors. Through the NCC, the group aims to
contribute to cricket’s development by widening young players’ access to
quality resources, professional coaching and suitable training facilities. The
programme seeks to give talented youngsters a stronger foundation to take their
game to the next level, regardless of their existing access to professional
cricket infrastructure.

players aged 16 to 23 years who wish to participate must report directly
to the venue at 8 am on Monday, October 26, 2026.

A
Chance to Turn Potential into Progress
For
aspiring cricketers, the NCC Talent Hunt offers more than a few days of trials.
It presents an opportunity to access professional coaching, develop their
skills and pursue a place in Mumbai’s competitive cricket system. By combining
sponsored training with exposure and a potential pathway to higher-level
cricket, the initiative aims to ensure that lack of access does not prevent
promising talent from getting a chance to succeed.
