Indoor Cricket Masters World Series
In the final match of the Over 40-year category,
UAE defeated South Africa by 25 runs.
Colombo, October 5: The Indoor Cricket Masters World Series, organized in
collaboration with the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association and sanctioned by the
World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF), is currently underway at the Austesia
Sports Club in Thalawathugoda, Colombo, Sri Lanka. This tournament has been
jointly organized by the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association and U Pro, a company
led by Manish Kishore. In the over-40 men's category, the UAE celebrated a
25-run victory against South Africa, finishing with a score of 74-49. This
marks the first time that neither Australia nor New Zealand has reached the
final in this category.
In today's final, the UAE's over-40 men's team secured a thrilling victory
over South Africa. Batting first, the UAE scored 21 runs in the first skin
(four overs) with captain Tharindu Mendes (15 runs) and Rohan Nayak (6 runs, 1
wicket), while in the second skin, vice-captain Vikrant Shetty (9 runs) and
Zhi Nawaz (9 runs, 4 wickets) contributed 18 runs. In the third skin,
Krishanchandra Karate (2 runs) and Prasath Kumara (18 runs, 1 wicket) added 20
runs, and in the fourth and final skin, Syam Chandrabhan (15 runs) and Mit
Dalal set a target of 75 runs for South Africa.
In response, South Africa fought hard, scoring 19 runs in the first skin
(four overs) through Andries Rooyn (9 runs, 1 wicket) and Andre Rensburg (10
runs, 1 wicket). In the second skin, captain Jaco Swart (7 runs, 1 wicket)
and Jaco Erasmus (0 runs, 1 wicket) managed only 7 runs, while in the third
skin, vice-captain Eugene Swart (11 runs, 1 wicket) and Rejean Damone (8
runs, 1 wicket) added 19 runs. However, in the fourth and final skin, the
efforts of Ignes Ingram (4 runs, 2 wickets) and Vaughan Berkel (8 runs) proved
insufficient.

From the outset, the UAE displayed aggressive play, securing the match with
their strategy. Captain Tharindu Mendes stated after the match that they
executed their game plan effectively, leading to their victory.
