Colombo, October 4: The Indoor Cricket Masters World Series, sanctioned by
the World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF) and organized in collaboration with
the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association, is currently underway at the Austasia
Sports Club in Thalawathugoda, Colombo, Sri Lanka. This tournament has been
collectively organized by Manish Kishore's U Pro company, which renovated four
courts for the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association.
In the men's category for players over 40, India celebrated a thrilling
victory over England with a score of 55-54. However, in the 45+ men's category
and the 30+ women's category, India faced defeats against Sri Lanka. Resulting in
both the ladies’ teams to play the Plate Finals on 5th
October.
n today's match, the Indian team for the 40+ category celebrated a
nail-biting victory over England. Batting first, England managed to score only
54 runs. In the first skin (four overs), Sen Ongers and Shaun Henderson scored
28 runs, while David Ball and Stephen contributed 9 runs in the second skin. In
the third skin, Stuart Wood and David Brown added 11 runs, but the fourth and
final skin, led by captain Mitchell Jones and Aaron Watson, failed to add any
runs, leaving England with a total of just 54 runs on the scoreboard.
The Indian team, however, fought back vigorously. In the first skin,
Prashant Karia (1 run, 2 wickets) and Naresh Khurana (6 runs, 1 wicket) scored
5 runs. In the second skin, Rajeev Chandrasekhar (5 runs, 1 wicket) and Hiren
Prajapati (6 runs, 2 wickets) contributed 11 runs. The captain, Prasanna Kumar
(10 runs, 1 wicket), and Shamsir Chinthavida (17 runs, 1 wicket) added 27 runs
in the third skin, putting India in a strong position. In the fourth skin,
vice-captain Kartikeyan Subramanian (14 runs, 2 wickets) and Nagesh Singh (3
runs) secured the victory for India. Although the last pair managed to add 27
runs, they were run out twice in the fourth over, leading to a total of only 17
runs being added. With this victory, India has advanced to the Plate Final.
In the 35+ men's category, the Indian team was defeated by Sri Lanka with a
score of 137-32, losing by 105 runs. Similarly, in the 30+ women's category,
India succumbed to Sri Lanka with a score of 103-35, facing a defeat by 68
runs.
