Mumbai, October 23: Top
seed Vishnu Vardhan easily defeated Sandesh Kurale 6-2, 7-5 in a Men’s singles
first round match of the Bandra Gymkhana organized Rs 2.5 lakh J.S. Pereira
Memorial AITA Tennis Tournament, and played at the Bandra Gymkhana tennis
courts on Tuesday.
In a closely contested
encounter, Azmeer Shaikh got the better of Dheeraj Kodancha in three sets
7-6(9), 5-7, 6-4.
In another match,
Rhythm Malhotra fought back to overcome Suhith Reddy Lanka 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 and
advanced to the second round.
In another
one-sided match, Samuel Rashein comfortably defeated Jatin Nain in
straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
