Jhaveri and Marianne Karmarkar displayed remarkable teamwork to emerge
victorious in the Amla Ruia Women Pairs competition at the 66th Ashok Ruia
Memorial National Bridge Championships, held at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports
Complex, Balewadi, Pune.
Competing in the
all-play-all finals among 18 pairs, Jhaveri and Karmarkar secured the title
convincingly with a total of 73 IMPs after 51 boards, crowning themselves as
the National Women Bridge Champions.
Vasanti Shah (Mumbai)
and Gopika Tandon (Delhi) claimed second place with 64 IMPs, while Alka M.
Kshirsagar and Bharati Dey secured third place, trailing with a score of 43
IMPs.
Overnight leaders Asha
Sharma and Puja Batra, both from Delhi, struggled in the final round and
slipped to sixth position, finishing with 28 IMPs.
