Billiards & Snooker Championships 2024
Rayaan wins billiards
title to complete grand double
Mumbai, December 10:
Rayaan Razmi achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the senior billiards
title, completing a grand double in the Malabar Hill Club Maharashtra State
Billiards & Snooker Championships 2024. Earlier, Razmi had bagged the
senior snooker title, and he capped off his impressive campaign with a 4-2
victory over World billiards champion Dhruv Sitwala in the Senior Men’s
billiards final held at the Malabar Hill Club billiards hall.
The lanky and talented
cueist now holds an impressive record of seven Maharashtra state titles—three
in the junior category and four in the senior category. Razmi’s consistent and
composed performance proved too much for his experienced opponent.
Sitwala, typically
known for his precision and control, struggled with uncharacteristic errors and
was unable to dictate the pace of the game. Razmi capitalized on every
opportunity, producing multiple half-century breaks to seal his victory with
frame scores of 150(66)-73(55), 61-151(81), 151(97)-147(139), 73-151(74,58),
152-134, and 152(56,53)-67.
The champion Rayaan
Razmi received a winner’s cheque of Rs 40,000 along with the prestigious title.
Runner-up Dhruv Sitwala earned Rs 20,000, while the semi-finalists, Siddharth
Parikh and Vishal Madan, were rewarded with Rs 10,000 each.
