Sanjeevani, Santacruz make winning starts
Mumbai: Sanjeevani CC and MCC Santacruz made impressive
starts by winning their first-round matches in the Mumbai CC Academy Boys’ U-12
Talent Search Cricket League 2024-25, organized by the Jwala Sports Foundation
and played at the Oval Maidan.
In a closely contested encounter, Sanjeevani defeated
Spider CC by 15 runs, while MCC Santacruz recorded a comfortable 45-run win
against MCC Thane in another match.
Electing to bat, Sanjeevani CC posted 150 runs for 5
wickets in their allotted 25 overs. Prajwal Khilare scored 29 runs, and Suchit
Jadhav added 26 runs to anchor the innings, while Akash Morya claimed 2 wickets
for 24 runs for Spider CC. In the chase, Sanjeevani’s Om Dhembre shone with the
ball, taking an impressive 4 wickets for 22 runs to dismiss Spider CC for 135
in 25 overs. Shreyas Gulve top-scored with 31 runs for Spider CC.
In the second match, MCC Santacruz, batting first, scored
147 runs for 5 wickets from their 25 overs. Vivan S. played a stellar knock of
59 runs, while Nakul M chipped in with 25 runs. MCC Thane bowler Dishant
Phulore claimed 2 wickets for 21 runs. In reply, MCC Thane struggled against
the disciplined bowling of Arnav Rai, who took a remarkable 5 wickets for just
14 runs. MCC Thane were bowled out for 102 runs in 21.5 overs, giving MCC
Santacruz a 45-run victory.
