to Easy 72-56 Victory
Mumbai, December 9:
Transpire Sports delivered an inspired and dominant performance to secure a
convincing 72-56 (HT: 31-18) win against Fr. Agnel’s Gymkhana in a Men’s
first-round match of the NBA Basketball Tournament 2024, played under
floodlights at the Late Bachoo Khan Municipal Playground, Nagpada, late Sunday
evening.
Demonstrating excellent
teamwork and shooting accuracy, Transpire Sports controlled the game from the
outset. Their leading scorers included Fashif Shaikh (16 points), Mohsin Shaikh
(15 points), Jay Kumar (14 points), Fardeen Khan (12 points), and Mohd Salim
(10 points). Despite a valiant effort, Fr. Agnel’s Gymkhana struggled to match
their opponents. Vaishk M. (14 points), Satbir Singh (12 points), and Tanmay
Rane (10 points) were the top contributors for the losing side.
Earlier, in a Boys’
Under-22 encounter, Ghatkopar YMCA outclassed HI-5 ‘A’ 51-35 (HT: 30-19),
powered by Aman Sharma’s outstanding 19-point effort, supported by Deepak
Chaurasia’s 11 points. HI-5 ‘A’ relied on Amit Yadav (12 points) and Dipesh
Sharma (10 points), but their efforts fell short.
In a Boys’ Under-14
second-round match, Campion School secured a comfortable 33-8 (HT: 23-2) win
against Anjuman Islam School. Campion’s star performer was Ayan Raychaudri with
10 points, while Shrikrishna Mujumdar added 8 points. Anjuman’s Idrisi Saud scored
all of their points, totaling 8.
