Mumbai: Displaying his signature calm and strategic play, Maharashtra’s Kiran Salian stole the spotlight on the penultimate day of the IMPTTA National Masters' Table Tennis Tournament at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai. With an impressive run across multiple events, Kiran is now in contention for a triple crown in the 49+ category.

 

Gold Assured for Maharashtra in Men's Team Event

Representing Maharashtra A team alongside Sameer Bhate, Tejas Naik, and Rajesh Singh, Kiran played a pivotal role in leading his squad to the finals, where they will face their B team, ensuring a gold medal for Maharashtra.

 

Thrilling Singles and Doubles Victories

In the Men’s 49+ Singles semi-finals, Kiran registered a hard-fought 3-2 victory over top seed Sameer Bhate. He will now face Ravi Chopra, who edged past Bhushan Nevgi in another five-set thriller.

 

Continuing his winning streak in Men’s Doubles, Kiran partnered with Sameer Bhate to secure a commanding 3-0 semi-final victory over Dr. Nitin Toshniwal & Atmaram Gangarde. They will now battle Rajesh Singh and Naveen Salian in the finals.

 

In Mixed Doubles 49+, Kiran, alongside Bibiana Lopes, cruised to an easy 3-0 win over Avinash Kothari and Moonmoon Mukherjee. In the other semi-final, Naveen Salian & Trupti Machve defeated Sameer Bhate & Shravani Dhapre, setting up a thrilling final.

 

With three finals in sight, Kiran’s spectacular form puts him on the verge of a prestigious triple crown in the 49+ category.

 

Maharashtra Women Shine in 49+ Events

Maharashtra’s dominance extended to the 49+ Women’s Team event, where both their A and B teams secured a spot in the finals. Sivapriya Naik, Shravani Dhapre, Trupti Machve, and Sushma Mogre will take on Sadiya Vanjara, Vinita Shukla, and Priyanka Ghumre in an all-Maharashtra showdown.

Similarly, the 49+ Women’s Singles final will also guarantee Maharashtra a gold medal, as Moonmoon Mukherjee and Sushma Mogre triumphed in their respective semi-finals over Sivapriya Naik and Shravani Dhapre.

 

Rajasthan Pair Upsets Seeded Maharashtra Duo in Women’s Doubles

In a notable Women’s 49+ Doubles semi-final upset, Rajasthan’s Sushila Chaudhary and Divya Gautam displayed exceptional teamwork to defeat the seeded Maharashtra duo of Shravani Dhapre and Trupti Machve, securing their place in the final. They will now face Vaishali Malvankar & Ujwala Chandramore from Maharashtra.

 

Men’s 59+ Team Final: Maharashtra A vs. Maharashtra C

The Men’s 59+ Team event will witness another all-Maharashtra final, as their A and C teams battle for supremacy.

 

In the Men’s 49+ Singles, West Bengal’s Debashish Saha stunned top-seeded Jogesh Motawani in a nail-biting 3-2 encounter. He will now face Maharashtra’s Pradeep Gupta for the title.
