Kolhapur: The State
Ranking Carrom Tournament organized by Shambhuraje Friends Circle,
Kolhapur, kicked off with great enthusiasm at the Ganga Bhagyoday Cultural
Hall, Kasba Bawda. The tournament is being held to commemorate the birthday
of MLA Satej Patil, who also inaugurated the event.
The inauguration
ceremony was graced by several dignitaries including Arun Kedar
(Honorary Secretary, Maharashtra Carrom Association), Yogesh Phansalkar
and Abhijit Mohite (Joint Secretaries), Ajit Sawant (Treasurer),
and from Kolhapur District Amateur Carrom Association, Adv. Vivek Ghatge
(President) and Vijay Jadhav (Secretary). On this occasion, Arun Kedar
felicitated Satej Patil with a memento, annual report, and a congratulatory
plaque on behalf of the Maharashtra Carrom Association.
Omkar Netke’s Explosive
Start
In the first round of
the Men’s Singles category, Omkar Netke from Mumbai showcased an
excellent performance by defeating Kiran Bhopnikar from Mumbai Suburbs
in three sets: 25-5, 11-25, 25-15, thus securing a strong entry into the
third round. Each set was closely contested, but Netke’s precision and
composure led him to victory.
Highlights from the
Second Round:
Niranjan Chari
(Palghar) dominated Ajay Mali (Pune) with a sweeping 25-5, 25-0
victory.
Narsingrao Sakari
(Mumbai Suburbs) overcame Vijay Kondvilkar (Ratnagiri) in a
gripping match: 25-14, 21-19.
Sanjay Maniyar (Mumbai
Suburbs) comfortably defeated Dhananjay Raut (Satara) with 25-0, 23-9.
Bharat Koli (Mumbai) dismantled Shubham
Dhane (Satara) in a one-sided battle: 25-4, 25-0.
Carrom enthusiasts can
