Mumbai: The CCI Snooker Classic 2026 continued to witness exciting contests as Ruturaj Karnad, Ashish Gore and Zenul Arsiwala registered hard-fought victories in the first qualifying round matches. The matches were played at the iconic Wilson Jones Billiards Hall at the Cricket Club of India (CCI), where players displayed excellent cue control and composure under pressure to move ahead in the competition.

 

Ruturaj Karnad Edges Past Nouzad Munshi

In a closely contested encounter, Ruturaj Karnad defeated Nouzad Munshi 3-2 (52-71, 67-31, 66-28, 44-59, 55-17). Munshi started strongly by winning the opening frame, but Karnad fought back impressively to claim the next two frames. Munshi forced a decider by winning the fourth frame, however Karnad maintained his composure in the final frame to seal the victory and advance in the tournament.

 

Ashish Gore Wins Another Tight Battle

In another gripping match, Ashish Gore overcame Pradeep Jadhav 3-2 (57-52, 13-53, 61-44, 15-58, 48-44). The match witnessed fluctuating fortunes with both players sharing frames alternately. In the decisive frame, Gore held his nerve and played crucial shots at the right time to clinch the match.

 

Zenul Arsiwala Stages Strong Comeback

Zenul Arsiwala produced a solid comeback performance to defeat Prasad Wankhedkar 3-1 (22-64, 54-36, 52-11, 61-11). After losing the first frame, Arsiwala raised his level and dominated the next three frames with controlled and confident play to secure a convincing win.

 

Imdad Khan and Ejaz Merchant Advance

In other first round matches, Imdad Khan recorded a comfortable 3-0 (57-13, 50-40, 53-9) victory over Mithun Merchant with a commanding performance throughout the match. Meanwhile, Ejaz Merchant defeated Manan Shah 3-1 (52-39, 66-1, 32-74, 72-34) to progress further in the competition.

 

The CCI Snooker Classic 2026 continues to produce competitive encounters, with players displaying impressive skill and determination as the qualifying rounds move forward. More exciting matches are expected in the upcoming stages of the tournament.
