Mumbai : Mumbai is all set to witness a thrilling badminton spectacle as the Yonex Sunrise Manoj Ramchandra Memorial State Open Badminton Tournament 2026 kicks off from Thursday, March 26, 2026, with over 360 entries promising fierce competition and electrifying action. Organised by the North Indian Association and Jitesh Padukone Academy under the aegis of the Maharashtra Badminton Association, the tournament has attracted the state’s finest shuttlers, setting the stage for a power-packed showdown.

 

Men’s Singles: Sankalp Chandragurala Headlines Strong Field

In the Men’s singles category, Sankalp Chandragurala (Nagpur) enters the tournament as the top seed, carrying high expectations and formidable form. Kaushal Dharmamer (Mumbai Suburban) is seeded second, while Sarvesh Yadav (Thane) and Krishna Jasuja (Pune) have been placed as the third and fourth seeds respectively, ensuring a highly competitive draw filled with talent and intensity.

 

Women’s Singles: Purva Barve Leads the Charge

In the Women’s singles section, Purva Barve (Pune) has secured the top seed, emerging as the player to beat. Close on her heels is Aarya Korgaonkar (Thane) as the second seed, with Shreya Bhosale (Pune) and Nishika Gokhe (Nagpur) occupying the third and fourth seedings respectively, promising exciting clashes among Maharashtra’s top women shuttlers.

In the Under-15 category, winners will receive Rs 8,500, runners-up Rs 5,500, and third-place finishers Rs 3,500.
