Nine-day intensive training at Oval Maidan gives global exposure to U-13
players from Essex
Explosive
Learning Experience in Cricket Capital
Mumbai
: In an exciting blend of international exposure and grassroots development,
young cricketers from Cricket Lovers Global (CLG) Academy, Essex (UK)
underwent a high-quality training stint in Mumbai under the guidance of Jwala
Singh, founder of the Jwala Sports Foundation, at the iconic Oval
Maidan. The U-13 players spent 9 days immersing themselves in
advanced cricketing techniques while also competing against local clubs, making
it a truly enriching experience.
Global
Vision Driving CLG Academy’s Growth
One
of the fastest-growing academies in the UK, CLG Academy continues to
emphasise global exposure for budding talent. Co-founders Piyush Somaiya
and Rahul Vyas highlighted their vision of regularly bringing young
teams to India, aiming to provide international match experience and holistic
cricket development opportunities for their players.
Focus
on Skills, Mindset and Match Practice
During
the intensive training sessions, players worked closely with Jwala Singh,
focusing on key aspects such as mental strength, handling spin
bowling, and structured batting and bowling drills. The hands-on
coaching and match scenarios helped the youngsters adapt quickly to
subcontinental conditions and refine their overall game.
Valuable
Match Experience on Tour
The
training culminated in competitive matches against local teams, where the CLG
side managed to secure 1 win from 4 matches. Despite limited victories,
the exposure and learning gained from playing in different conditions proved
invaluable for the young cricketers’ development.
