rising boxing talent is all set to shine on the continental stage as a 56-member
Indian boxing contingent prepares to compete in the Asian
Boxing U15 & U17 Championships
2026, beginning tomorrow in Tashkent,
Uzbekistan. The prestigious tournament will feature Asia’s best young talent,
and the Indian squad is fully geared up to make a powerful impact.
Balanced
and Strong Team Composition; India Fields Solid Squad in Boys’ and Girls’
Categories
India
enters the competition with a well-balanced and strong squad across both boys’
and girls’ categories. This reflects the country’s consistent focus on
grassroots development and nurturing young boxing talent, ensuring a steady
pipeline of future champions.
U-17 Category
– Strong Representation; 13 Boxers Each in Boys’
and Girls’ Divisions
In
the U-17 category,
India has fielded 13 boxers each
in both boys’ and girls’ divisions. The competitions will be held across weight
categories ranging from 44–46 kg to +80 kg.
Each team is supported by 4 coaches
and 1 physiotherapist,
ensuring professional guidance and fitness support.
U-15 Category
– Promising Talent Pool; 15 Boxers Each Across
Multiple Weight Classes
In
the U-15 category,
India has included 15 boxers each
in both boys’ and girls’ sections. These athletes will compete in weight
divisions from 30–33 kg to +70 kg.
Each squad is backed by 5 coaches
and 1 physiotherapist,
providing strong technical and medical support.

ahead of the tournament, stating, “These championships offer an important
platform for our young boxers to gain international exposure and test
themselves against Asia’s best. Over the past two years, boxing has emerged as
one of India’s top-performing sports, consistently delivering medals at major
international events. This success reflects the strength of our grassroots
program. We are confident that this group represents the next generation of
champions.”
