India’s young squash star defeats Denmark’s No. 1 Magnus Laursen in a thrilling final

 

Mumbai : India’s Yash Fadte produced a superb and confident performance on the European squash circuit, defeating Denmark’s No. 1 Magnus Laursen 3-1 in the final to win the RPM Power Aarhus Open in Denmark. Fadte’s title triumph was the result of a powerful campaign in which he overcame several highly ranked opponents to claim the prestigious championship.

 

Strong run through the quarter-finals

The Goa-based Yash Fadte began his decisive run with an impressive straight-game victory over Karl Mcloughney, Ireland’s No. 3, in the quarter-finals. Fadte dominated the contest and completed a 3-0 victory, winning 11-7, 11-8, 11-9.

 

Denmark’s No. 2 also beaten

Fadte continued his winning march in the semi-finals, where he faced Malthe Laursen, Denmark’s No. 2. Showing excellent control and determination, Fadte registered a 3-1 victory to book his place in the title clash.

 

Fadte saves his best for the final

The final against Denmark’s top-ranked Magnus Laursen provided a fitting climax to Fadte’s impressive campaign. The Indian star held his nerve in a closely fought contest and emerged a 3-1 winner in 62 minutes, taking the match 11-8, 18-16, 7-11, 11-4 to lift the Aarhus Open title.

 

Big European challenges ahead

The title win has given Yash Fadte valuable momentum for his next international assignments. He will now turn his attention to the PSA Aramis Open in Belgium, which begins in 10 days, before travelling to France for the PSA Brest Squash Open in Brest, scheduled to begin in three weeks.
