Maharashtra Wins Double Gold Crown
Satara’s Prasad Balip Receives Bharat Award, and Sangli’s
Vedika Tamakhde is Honored with Ila Award
Jharkhand,
October 2 – The Maharashtra boys' and girls' teams secured the championship
title and a double gold crown at the ongoing 34th National Kho-Kho Championship
held at Albert Ekka Stadium in Pushpur. This marks the boys' team’s ninth
consecutive title and the girls’ seventh title. Prasad Balip from Satara
received the Bharat Award for Best Player, while Vedika Tamakhde from Sangli
was honored with the Ila Award.
The
boys' final between Maharashtra and Telangana was fiercely contested. After
trailing by one point at halftime, Maharashtra ultimately won the match 24-15,
clinching the victory by a nine-point margin. Key performances for Maharashtra
included Bhimsing Vasave with 2 minutes of defense and 1 out, Shri Dalvi with 1
minute and 10 seconds of defense and 1 out, Prasad Balip with 1 minute and 2
seconds of defense and 3 outs, Sachin Thorat with 1 minute and 10 seconds of defense
and 1 out, and Vinayak Bhange with 1 minute and 20 seconds of defense.
Telangana’s Sundar contributed significantly with 1 minute of defense and 8
outs.
In
the girls' final, Maharashtra easily defeated Karnataka by 18 points. Leading
14-4 at halftime, Maharashtra won the match 26-8. Vedika Tamakhde provided a
strong defense for 5 minutes in the first inning, supported by Siddhi Bhosale,
who had 1 minute and 30 seconds of defense and took out 5 players. Shravan
Tamakhde went undefeated with 3 minutes of defense and took out 2 players,
while Gauri Jadhav took out 3 players. Karnataka's Inchra managed 2 outs in 1
minute and 30 seconds of defense, and Gautami gave a strong fight with 1 minute
and 40 seconds of defense and 1 out.
After
the matches, the coaches and manager give full credited to the players for
their victory. Dr. Chandrajeet Jadhav, the Jt. Secretary of the Indian Kho-Kho
Federation and Secretary of Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association, praised the
players for their double championship win. Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association
President Sanjeevraje Naik Nimbalkar, Chairman Sachin Godbole, Treasurer Govind
Sharma, Sandeep Tawade, and other officials also lauded the young athletes.
