India Triumphs Over Singapore by 83 Runs
Colombo, October 3, (Sports News): The Indoor Cricket Masters World Series,
recognized by the World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF) and organized in
collaboration with the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association, is currently underway
at the Austeshia Sports Club in Thalawathugoda, Colombo, Sri Lanka. This
tournament has been jointly organized by Manish Kishore's U Pro, which
renovated four courts of the Ceylon Indoor Cricket Association. In the men's
group for players over 40, India delivered a resounding victory against the
underperforming Singapore, winning by 83 runs with a score of 104 to 21.
India’s team was initially considered strong in the Masters World Series
for players over 40. However, after suffering defeats from Australia and Sri
Lanka in the past two days, India fell to sixth place in the standings. Today,
the Indian team showcased an impressive performance, striving to regain a
higher ranking with their victory over Singapore. Currently, Australia, UAE,
South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, India, England, and Singapore occupy the
top eight spots.
In today's match, while batting first, India set a score of 104 runs. In
the first screen (four overs), captain Prasanna Kumar (12 runs and 3 wickets)
and Abhishek Wesley (9 runs) contributed 21 runs. In the second screen,
vice-captain Kartikeyan Subramanian (22 runs and 3 wickets) and Shamsheer
Chinthavida (23 runs and 3 wickets) scored 45 runs, solidifying India's
position. In the third screen, Rajeev Chandrasekhar (23 runs and 1 wicket) and
Hiren Prajapati (13 runs) added another 31 runs. Finally, in the fourth screen,
Suraj Agarwal (6 runs and 4 wickets) and Sameer Shah (1 run and 2 wickets)
managed 7 runs, leading India to a total of 104 runs.
In response, Singapore struggled, with their captain Ashwin Ravindran (2
runs and 3 wickets) and Abhinav Chintamani (3 runs) managing just 1 run in the
first screen. In the second screen, Viraj Swaroop (10 runs) and vice-captain
Tony Chisholm (12 runs) added 22 runs. The third screen saw Ismeth Shahjahan
(12 runs, 3 wickets) and Mahalingen Gopalasamy (3 runs, 1 wicket) contribute 15
runs. Finally, in the last screen, Vijay Vaithinathan (8 runs and 1 wicket) and
Ankush Verma (7 runs) resulted in a negative total of 15 runs, leading India to
a significant victory over Singapore by 83 runs.
