Sanjay Maniyar and Rahul Barve Crowned Winners of the Rapid Carrom Super Six Tournament

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the association, the Maharashtra Carrom Association organized a special Rapid Carrom Super Six tournament for referees and officials from across the state on Sunday at the Central Railway Institute in Dadar. A total of 66 referees and officials from eight districts in Maharashtra participated in the tournament in Mumbai. The players were divided into 'A' and 'B' groups. In the open singles 'A' group, Sanjay Maniyar from Mumbai Suburban secured the championship title with a decisive victory over Amol Shinde from Mumbai, winning 10-9, 22-5.

The 'B' group saw a highly competitive match. Rahul Barve from Ratnagiri lost the first set 2-25 against Prajakta Narayankar from Mumbai Suburban, leading many to believe the match would be one-sided. However, Rahul bounced back in the second set, winning it 23-4, bringing excitement back into the match. In the third and final set, Rahul maintained an aggressive play from the start, taking the lead and winning the set 18-7, thus etching his name on the championship title.

The winners were honored with trophies presented by international carrom player, national champion, and Shiv Chhatrapati awardee Sandeep Devrukhkar. Also present were Arun Kedar, Honorary Secretary of the Maharashtra Carrom Association; Vice president Manzoor Ahmed Mehmood Khan; Treasurer Ajit Sawant; Jt-secretary Ketan Chikhale; and chief referee and state Jt-secretary Yogesh Phanasalkar. The final match was streamed live on the Maharashtra Carrom Association's YouTube channel.

Many distinguished guests, including international champion carrom player Anupama Kedar, national champion Sanjay Mande, and national player Siddhant Wadwalkar, attended to support and motivate the players. Given the positive response to the tournament, referees and officials have requested that similar competitions be held annually. There are also inquiries about organizing such tournaments for referees and officials from other states at the national level.
