Thane: Led by an exceptional all-round performance from skipper Mahi Thakkar, Payyade Sports Club defeated Bharat Cricket Club by three wickets to advance in the 5th Arjun Madhavi Memorial Women’s One-Day Cricket Tournament. Organized jointly by the Dr. Rajesh Madhavi Sports Association and Daivagnya Cricket Club, the match saw Payyade chase down Bharat Cricket Club’s target of 183 runs in 31.5 overs with 7 wickets down.

 

In Bharat Cricket Club’s innings, wicketkeeper and opener Dhanashree Waghmare, along with captain Ketki Dhure, made significant contributions. Ketki scored a half-century with 53 runs, while Dhanashree added 38 and Shrutika Patil chipped in with 22 runs. For Payyade, Disha Lote claimed 3 wickets, Kritika Yadav took 2, while Mahi Thakkar, Jia Mandarwadkar, and Riddhi Kotecha took a wicket each.

 

Chasing a modest target, Payyade Sports Club started shakily. However, skipper Mahi Thakkar stabilized the innings with an aggressive knock. She smashed 76 runs off just 42 balls, including 12 boundaries and 3 sixes, setting up the win for her team. Lalita Yadav scored 26 runs, and Ashlesha Barar remained unbeaten with 21 runs to seal the victory. Bharat Cricket Club’s Lakshmi Saroj put up a brilliant bowling performance, taking 5 wickets, while Sakshi Gurav took 2 wickets.
