Gaya (Bihar): Maharashtra players have
once again proved their strength in Kho-Kho at the Khelo India Youth Games and
made their mark across the country. The defending champions Maharashtra
boys repeated history by winning the gold medal for the seventh consecutive
time , while the girls team had to settle for the silver medal
after losing to Odisha in the final. Maharashtra had to compete against
Odisha in both the matches. In this competition, Maharashtra
boys made a splash on the field by winning their 7th
consecutive gold medal . While Maharashtra girls had
won five gold medals earlier, this is their second silver
medal .

Maharashtra in the children's section Beating Odisha
34-25 by 9 points They dominated the field under the captaincy
of Raj Jadhav . Maharashtra's Hardaya Vasave (2
min. unbeaten defence and 2 points), Ashish Gautam (1.46 min.
defence and 6 points ), Raj Jadhav (1.14 min. defence and 2
points), Sharad Ghatge (8 points) played a game that shook the
field and brought Maharashtra its 7th consecutive gold medal .
On the other hand, the defeated Odisha's Yashwant Yadav (1.08,
1.01 min. defence and 2 points) , Shagu Soyan (1.08 ,
1.28 min. defence and 4 points) , Sumit Patra (1.50 min.
unbeaten defence and 10 points) , Sumit Sahu (1.09 min.
defence) gave a strong fight but failed.
Odisha wins in a close girls'
final
In the girls' group, both Maharashtra
and Odisha were strong, so the final match was a close one. In this
match, Odisha defeated Maharashtra by 3 points, 44-31 ,
and Maharashtra will have to be satisfied with the runner-up position .
In this match , Archana Pradhan (1.30 min. not out , 2
min. defense and 2 points) , Smranika Sahu ( 1.02 , 1.47 min.
defense and 12 points) , Harpriya Bhuyan (1.13 , 1.10 min.
defense) , K Ramaya (6 points) played a valuable role in the
victory for Odisha. On the other hand, Suhani Dhotre (1 , 1
min. defense and 8 points) , Amrita Patil (1.40 min. defense
and 12 points) , Pratiksha Birajdar (1.08 , 1.20 min. defense)
, Ashwini Shinde (6 points) fought hard for Maharashtra. For
some time, there was confusion as to whether it was Maharashtra or Odisha, but
in the end, Odisha won the title.
The team's performance is proud.
With this victory, Maharashtra boys have won
their seventh consecutive gold medal. This is not just a medal but a pride for
the state's Kho-Kho tradition. This is the second silver for Maharashtra girls,
who have won five gold medals before.

Maharashtra has once again proved on the
field of Kho-Kho that consistent success can be achieved
through sportsmanship , perseverance and team spirit. Behind
this success is the relentless efforts of the coaches , players , organization
and the state sports machinery.
