Mumbai : In a gripping display of resilience and determination, Mumbai’s rising star Harshit Mahimkar staged a sensational comeback to defeat giant-killer Ojas Gedam and storm into the semi-finals of the Yonex Sunrise Manoj Ramchandra Memorial State Open Badminton Tournament 2026 at the Matunga Gymkhana courts. After losing the opening game, Harshit Mahimkar bounced back brilliantly to clinch a hard-fought 2-1 (10-15, 15-13, 15-12) victory, underlining his fighting spirit and composure under pressure. The tournament is being conducted by the North Indian Association and Jitesh Padukone Academy under the Maharashtra Badminton Association, with support from SVC Co-Operative Bank and Saraswat Co-Operative Bank.

In the marquee quarter-final encounter, Harshit Mahimkar faced a tough challenge from Ojas Gedam, who had earlier caused a major upset. Despite dropping the first game 10-15, Harshit showed great character and tactical brilliance to win the next two games 15-13, 15-12, sealing a memorable victory and booking his place in the last 4.
