Prestigious Tournament to be Held in Mumbai
Mumbai : The Yonex Sunrise Manoj Ramachandran Memorial State Open
Badminton Tournament will be held from March 26 to 29, 2026, with a total
prize purse of ₹2.68 lakh.
The tournament is jointly organised by the North Indian Association and
the Padukone Shuttlers Academy, Mumbai, and is expected to attract top
badminton players from across Maharashtra.
Matches to be Played at Two Venues
The tournament is being conducted with the
approval of the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association and the Maharashtra
Badminton Association. Matches will be played at the courts of the North
Indian Association and the Matunga Gymkhana in Mumbai.
Attractive Cash Prizes for Men’s and Women’s
Singles
The competition will feature Men’s
Singles and Women’s Singles events. The winners in both categories will
receive ₹41,000 each,
while the runners-up will be awarded ₹31,000 each. Players finishing in third and fourth
place will receive ₹21,000 and ₹11,000 respectively.
Special Prize Structure for Under-15
Category
In the Under-15 Boys’ and Girls’ Singles
categories, the winner will receive ₹8,500, the runner-up ₹5,500, and the third-place finisher ₹3,500. These prizes for the Under-15 category have been sponsored
by Sandeep Thakkar in memory of his son Nihar Thakkar.
Encouragement for Under-11 Players
In the Under-11 Boys’ and Girls’ Singles
categories, the winners will receive ₹6,000 each, while the runners-up and third-place finishers will be
awarded ₹4,000 and ₹2,500 respectively. The prize structure aims to encourage
young and upcoming badminton players.
Entry Deadline and Registration Details
The last date for submitting entries is
March 20, 2026. The entry fee is ₹1,000 per event, and entries will be accepted only
through the official website www.mbasso.in.
