Grand Professional Kho-Kho Tournament Begins in Mumbai
Mumbai : Mumbai is all set to witness a spectacular celebration of
professional kho-kho as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Sports Club,
under the aegis of the Mumbai Kho-Kho Association, hosts the First
Professional Invitational Kho-Kho Tournament 2026 at the historic Vidyarthi
Krida Kendra Red Ground, Parel. Scheduled from May 14 to May 17, 2026,
the tournament promises high-intensity action, electrifying performances and
fierce competition among some of the strongest teams in the state. Kho-kho
lovers are eagerly waiting to experience the thrill, speed and tactical
brilliance of the sport at one of Mumbai’s most iconic venues.
12 Powerhouse Teams Set for Intense Battle
A total of 12 top professional teams will compete for the
prestigious title, with every team aiming to stamp its authority on the grand
stage. The tournament will be played on a knockout basis, ensuring intense and
do-or-die encounters throughout the competition. The participating teams include
Central Railway, Western Railway, Mumbai Police, Bank
of India, Municipal Corporation, Reserve Bank of India, Naval
Dock, Maharashtra Post, MahaVitaran, Thane Special Police
Cell, Gandhekar Electricals, and Rachana Notary Works. With
several experienced and talented players in action, fans can expect thrilling
raids, brilliant defence and edge-of-the-seat finishes.
Excitement Peaks for Semi-Finals and Final
The matches will begin on Thursday and every day is expected to produce
exciting contests filled with speed and strategy. The semi-final matches
will be played on May 16 at 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm, while the
much-awaited grand final will take place on May 17, 2026 at 7:30 pm.
Before the final, the third-place match will be conducted at 6:30 pm.
The famous red soil ground at Parel is expected to witness a festive atmosphere
as kho-kho enthusiasts gather in large numbers to cheer for their favourite
teams.
Chief Guests to Grace the Grand Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of the tournament will be attended by distinguished
dignitaries including Shri Suman Ray, Regional Director, Mumbai, Shri
Rahul Sinha, General Manager, HRMD, Central Office, Shri Avinash Kapoor,
General Manager, FED, MRO, and Mr Pappu Yadav, former Indian
wrestler and Arjuna Awardee, as Chief Guests. Their presence is expected
to add further prestige and grandeur to the tournament.

The successful organisation of this prestigious tournament is being carried
out under the guidance and support of the officials of the Mumbai Kho-Kho
Association. Sachin Narsappa, General Secretary of the RBI Sports
Club, is playing a major role in planning and coordinating the tournament
