: A composed unbeaten half-century from Abhishek Surve guided YES
Bank to a comfortable 5-wicket victory against State Bank of
India (SBI) in a Plate Division quarter-final match of the prestigious 64th
Sir Benegal Rama Rau Bank Shield T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by RBI
under the aegis of the MCA and played at Azad Maidan on Sunday. Surve’s
calm and match-winning knock ensured YES Bank completed the chase smoothly and
booked their place in the next stage of the tournament.

Struggle After Electing to Bat First
After
winning the toss and opting to bat, State Bank of India failed to build
momentum and could only post a modest total of 124 for 7 in 20 overs.
The innings was held together by Gautam Yadav, who remained unbeaten on 41
runs, while Rajeev Kamath contributed 37 runs. However, the
SBI batting line-up struggled against the disciplined bowling attack of YES
Bank. Saurabh Kulwade delivered an impressive spell claiming 2
wickets for 12 runs, while Shailesh Agarwal supported well with 2
wickets for 22 runs.

Surve Anchors Comfortable Chase
Chasing
a target of 125 runs, YES Bank reached 125 for 5 in 19 overs with
controlled batting and sensible partnerships. The star performer was
undoubtedly Abhishek Surve, who played a mature unbeaten innings of 57
runs off 53 balls, including 4 boundaries. He received valuable
support from Pratik Mane, who chipped in with 28 important runs.
SBI bowlers Abhijit Salgaonkar (3 for 24) and Jeetendra Vaity
(2 for 23) tried hard to bring their team back into the contest, but YES
Bank maintained control till the end.

Bank Secure Convincing Win Over Kotak Mahindra Bank
Earlier
in another quarter-final encounter, Citi Bank registered a solid 27-run
victory against Kotak Mahindra Bank to secure a place in the
semi-finals. Batting first, Citi Bank scored 156 for 7 in 20 overs, with
Rahul Soni top-scoring with 47 runs, while Mangesh Palav
added 33 runs and Puneet Gamani contributed 26 runs. Abhishek
Dongre and Aman Gujar claimed 2 wickets each for Kotak
Mahindra Bank.
In
reply, Kotak Mahindra Bank were bowled out for 129 runs in 19.2 overs
despite Aman Gujar’s 21 runs. Citi Bank bowlers Sushant Shetty (2
for 23) and Alok Shastri (2 for 30) bowled effectively to
seal the victory.
